Wardrobe Revamp

Updated: Nov 26, 2021

So far, I have discussed the importance of body shape, finding your style/inspiration, and having basic pieces in your wardrobe, because without them, it's very hard to pull an outfit together in a hurry.

Today, I want to talk about a Wardrobe Revamp. If you are going to purchase new items to refresh your style, then it's definitely worth checking what you already own, and then clearing some space for the new items.

No doubt all of you have items in your wardrobe that still have tags on, were bought because they were on sale and at the time seemed great, there might be clothes you are hoping to fit into ONE DAY, a few pairs of shoes that hurt your feet, but they look so gorgeous you just can't let them go!

There are steps to a Wardrobe Revamp, it is a process and one that you need to make time for, and be prepared for change.

  1. Put time aside without interruption

  2. Have your Basics Check List with you as you go along to cross reference

  3. Create 3 areas for Donating/Selling, Tailoring and Rubbish

  4. Take EVERY item out of your wardrobe, so you can place the ones you are keeping back in order. Pants with pants, tops with tops, skirts with skirts - then in colour order to make your choices quicker

  5. Try everything on and really decide if it works for you. Is it the right cut and colour for your shape/height and colourings. Does it have stains or holes? Does it fit well? Is it your current size? Have you worn it in the last year? Is it out of date? From here you decide to Donate/Sell, Tailor, Bin or put back into the wardrobe

  6. Anything you can't decide, return to the wardrobe, but place the hanger in backwards. Set a date of 3 months, if the hanger is still backwards on that date in your diary - then clearly, its donation/selling time

  7. Look what's left, cross off on your checklist and you now have a shopping list

Clutter creates chaos in the mind. It's way better to quickly see what items you have, grab an outfit and go, rather than pushing the squashed racks back every day, to end up wearing the same jeans and t-shirt look, because it's easy.

If all of the above seems overwhelming then you can choose to have a Wardrobe Revamp with me. I currently offer in home services or via zoom. I have the knowledge of body shapes, colours, height etc. I don't have a sentimental connection to your clothes like you do and I will keep the session moving forward, when you get stuck. You will also gain some great styling hints and tricks as we go along.

Please see services here if this sounds like what you need!
